  1. If someone’s into BDSM, it doesn’t mean that he or she has any kind of mental problem. Yes, sometimes people who were abused in the past or those with low self-esteem are interested in BDSM plays, but their problems aren’t the reason they have opted for this kind of sexual activity or relationship. In fact, a few studies conducted by different psychologists have shown that people who are members of the BDSM community have lower levels of psychological sadism, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and psychological masochism. Enjoying role-play, bondage or leather costumes isn’t an expression of a childhood trauma or mental illness; it’s simply an alternative lifestyle. Some BDSM practitioners do have problems, but it’s not what brought them to BDSM, nor is it a way of dealing with the difficulties they have experienced.

  2. No. People just happen to like different things in the bedroom.

  3. I don’t think so. I’m not very well-informed about this stuff, but I don’t think that some bondage and latex means that you’ve been mistreated as a child or something like that…

  5. No, they are not. We are not. My friends and I are not. I don’t know how people living in the 21st century can be so narrow-minded and full of prejudices. Assumptions like this don’t help anyone; you should avoid judging before you read anything on the subject.
