  1. DD stands for Domestic Discipline, while TIH is an acronym Taken In Hand. Domestic Discipline involves a mutual agreement, normally between spouses or partners who live together in the same household, in which one partner is in charge and has the role of the leader or the head of the household, while the other partner agrees to obey the leader and usually receives physical punishment for disobedience and any form of behavior that is not in line with what the leader finds to be appropriate and beneficial to the relationship and both of them individually. The punishment often comes in the form of spanking, but this is not necessarily the case. The spanking is in some cases erotic, but not all people who practice DD wish to mix sex with punishment, since they believe it might encourage the submissive partner to engage in the sort of negative behavior that leads to spanking, which then transforms from punishment to pleasure. In DD relationships, the submissive partner is usually the one in charge of domestic chores, either by default or as a consequence of disobedience. Domestic Discipline should not be confused with domestic abuse, since abuse is equal to violence, lacks the element of consent and does not contribute to the harmony in the relationship, which is the primary purpose of DD, according to the people who practice it. Just like in the case of DD, the goal of the Taken In Hand approach to marriage or a relationship is to strengthen it and make it a happy and functional one. It is also based on mutual agreement and it may in no way be compulsory. A TIH relationship is the one that is sexually exclusive and in most cases, the man is the one who is dominant and lays down the rules. The man’s dominance is present in the sexual aspect of the relationship as well. TIH can be viewed as a form of traditional, patriarchal relationship in which the man’s role is to make the decisions and determine tasks and the woman’s role is to obey him and enjoying having him as the leader. There may be corporal punishment involved, such as spanking, but not all TIH couples employ it.
