  1. The main difference between bondage and BDSM is that bondage is just one small part (albeit a significant one) of the BDSM spectrum of preferences and practices. In fact, the “B” in BDSM stands for “bondage,” which gives you a clue as to the importance of this particular activity in BDSM. Bondage is the erotic practice of restraining a person with ties, knots, bonds, chains, clothes and other tools. It is often perceived as a light form of BDSM practice, however, this is not necessarily true. While there are certainly light forms of bondage, with very loose knots and ties or even with pretend-ties, there are some quite intense and advanced bondage methods and techniques that can be very challenging and sometimes even dangerous, if not performed correctly. Still, bondage is probably the first thing people try when they start venturing into more “unusual” sexual practices, and many of them never go further than that.
